New Software Could Help Children Get to Sleep, Announces 7 Speed Reading?

New Software Could Help Children Get to Sleep, Announces 7 Speed Reading™

New York City, NY (PRWEB) May 10, 2012

Though technology has moved on leaps and bounds and cars have gotten faster yet more fuel efficient, the process of getting a child to bed seems to have skipped the advancements of the modern world. However, the team behind 7 Speed Reading™ today announce that this age-old tradition could hold the key to a happiness and success.

“The reasons are two fold,” says Marc Slater, Managing Director of the company behind the 7 Speed Reading™ reading improvement software.

Continuing, “The child gets to enjoy some quality one-on-one time with their parent, as well as indulge in the world of books – something which continues to be a vital contributing factor to good happiness and great prospects.”

Slater makes the claim following his company’s rise as market leaders in the self-improvement software sector. Their 7 Speed Reading™ product is highly regarded as being responsible for the continued interest in childhood reading, something Slater maintains is extremely important.

“Many studies are concluding that those who read enjoy better mental health and better prospects in life. So, with this in mind, we encourage all parents not to skip the bedtime story, and to instead make it a routine part of each child’s day” Slater adds.

As many will remember, the bedtime story is locked in history as a valuable and effective strategy for getting any child to sleep. Slater believes that it’s also a great opportunity for a child to learn, without being aware of it.

“It really does have so many benefits. It calms children down, allows them to throw their imaginations into over-drove and is also a bit like school for the brain – without the protests!” he concludes.

For more information on the reading-improvement software developed by Slater and his team, please visit: http://www.7speedreading.com

Coast2Coast Rx Card Reaches Two-Year Anniversary in Humboldt County

Coast2Coast Rx Card Reaches Two-Year Anniversary in Humboldt County

Coast2Coast Rx Card

Ponte Vedra, Fla. (PRWEB) May 08, 2012

Coast2Coast Rx announced today that its prescription discount card recently reached its two-year anniversary in Humboldt County, saving a total of more than 5,100 since the program’s inception. The program, approved by the County Board of Supervisors in April 2010, also serves as a revenue source for the county by generating .25 for public programs for each prescription filled using the card.

Supervisor Mark Lovelace helped launch the program in Humboldt County and has been a strong supporter. “The Coast2Coast Rx card program has helped residents save over 60 percent of the cost of their prescription drugs, a huge savings for something that can be a significant but necessary expense for many people,” Lovelace stated. “The program also provides revenues that are reinvested to support other County health care programs.”

The free Coast2Coast Rx card provides discounts on over 60,000 brand name and generic prescription drugs, with an average nationwide savings of 55 percent and in some cases, savings of up to 75 percent. Through a partner program, consumers can save on dental, vision and hearing services, diabetes supplies and even pet prescriptions. The card is available to all Humboldt County residents regardless of age, income or health status, and while the card provides significant savings for those without health insurance, it can also be effective for those whose insurance plans carry high deductibles or do not cover certain medications. In some instances the card can be used to offset the Medicare Part D “donut hole.”

Humboldt County residents save thousands of dollars each month by using the county-endorsed Coast2Coast Rx card, including more than ,800 in April 2012 alone.

“With just a small percentage of residents using the card, the cumulative savings to date demonstrates the potential impact the program can have on constituents and the community at large,” said Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc, the company that provides the cards. “Not only have consumers enjoyed significant savings on their prescription medications, they have generated revenue for Humboldt County programs.”

As Humboldt County marks its two-year anniversary of using the discount card program, an increasing number of counties in California continue to endorse the Coast2Coast Rx card as a dual-benefit program to help their constituents save money and create a revenue stream for the county. Today 18 counties in California have approved the discount program for their residents, and with the California State Association of Counties’ endorsement of the card in late 2011, Coast2Coast Rx card is poised to be a premier healthcare asset for participating counties statewide.

To start saving immediately on prescription drug prices, Humboldt County residents can download and print their free card at http://www.coast2coastrx.com/humboldt/. Stay up to date on Coast2Coast Rx and health care news by adding Coast2Coast Rx to your social network on Facebook and Twitter.

About Coast2Coast Rx Card

The mission of the Coast2Coast Rx Card is to provide a universe of prescription savings options while improving health outcomes. The Coast2Coast Rx Card has provided millions of dollars in savings on prescription drugs for its program members. A product of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., a Florida corporation (“FMC”), that is a leader in the supplemental benefits field, the Coast2Coast Rx Card was developed as a result of the belief that the cost of products and services has risen so drastically that a need has arisen among many families to supplement these costs with benefit programs and prescription cards. University of Redlands Speech-Language Pathology Program Among the Best in the Nation

University of Redlands Speech-Language Pathology Program Among the Best in the Nation

University of Redlands Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 07, 2012

The University of Redlands Speech-Language Pathology program was recognized in the 2012 edition of Best Graduate Schools by U.S. News Media Group. The Speech-Language Pathology graduate program is housed in the Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders under the College of Arts and Sciences. Redlands also ranks highly in U.S. News Regional University West Rankings and Best Value Schools.

Speech-language pathology is a competitive field for those who wish to help people with communication (speech, language, and/or voice) disorders and swallowing difficulties. At the end of the two-year graduate program at Redlands, the student will earn the California State license, California Speech Language Pathologist Services Credential (SLPS), and ASHA certification after completing a fellowship experience.

Highlights of the rankings are available in the Best Graduate Schools 2012 edition book. The 2012 Best Graduate Schools includes essential, detailed statistical information on more than 1,200 programs nationwide.

“It is a great honor to be among the best graduate programs in the nation,” said David Fite, vice president for academic affairs. It is a testament to the outstanding teaching and research at our Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders, Fite added.

The methodology used in the U.S. News health rankings is based solely on the results of peer assessment surveys sent to deans, other administrators, and/or faculty at accredited degree programs or schools in each discipline. All schools surveyed in a discipline were sent the same number of surveys. Respondents rated the academic quality of programs on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (outstanding). They were instructed to select “don’t know” if they did not have enough knowledge to rate a program. Only fully accredited programs in good standing during the survey period are ranked. Those schools with the highest average scores appear in the rankings.

“We believe the success of our program, spanning over 50 years, is a result of personalized education with small classes and an excellent in-house clinic with state-of-the-art audio and video teaching capabilities,” said Michael Groher, director of the Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders. There is an undeniable energy with clients coming from the surrounding community and students rushing from clinic to classroom, added Groher.

About the University of Redlands rankings

The University of Redlands is highly ranked by the nation’s most prestigious college ranking institutions including U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, Princeton Review, The Fiske Guide to Colleges and Washington Monthly. Forbes ranks the University of Redlands in the top 5% of America’s Best Colleges based on the quality of the education, the experiences students have and how much they achieve. U.S. News & World Report ranks the University both an A+ School and a Great Price. Washington Monthly lists the University of Redlands among the top 20 Master’s Universities nationally for the ‘public good.’

Internationally Acclaimed Marketing Expert Offers Updated Tips For Utilizing Humor to Reach Patients on an Emotional Level

Internationally Acclaimed Marketing Expert Offers Updated Tips For Utilizing Humor to Reach Patients on an Emotional Level

Physical Therapy Marketing

Denville, NJ (PRWEB) May 05, 2012

“Patients are exposed to several hundred marketing messages a day,” said Chhoda. “To cut through the clutter and identify with clients on an emotional level, you have to stand out and humor offers a perfect vehicle. At the end of the day, patients are human beings like everyone else and like to laugh.”

Nitin Chhoda, a physical therapy marketing expert, noted that humorous quotes, stories and cartoons are all ways that can be used to bring a smile to a patient’s face. Humor doesn’t have to result in a belly laugh; it simply needs to be something with which the client can identify at the emotional level. The ultimate purpose is to remind the individual of the practice and the provider, and that can be accomplished in a number of ways.

Postcards are the preferred method, providing a relatively inexpensive means of reaching established patients and prospective new clients. He noted that systems such as Therapy Newsletter can also be used to deliver the desired message, as can Clinical Contact. They provide the means to personalize handwritten mail for busy medical professionals, without the need to do all the writing.

Despite living in the digital age, Chhoda said a personalized mailing still results in a better return on investment, provided the medical professional can get the reader’s attention. A postcard or personal note reaches patients in their homes where they’re most relaxed and more likely to take the time to read a postcard or note. Communications should mention the recipient’s name at least twice for psychological impact.

Patients typically sort mail into three types – the immediate pile that includes bills, the look at later batch that includes marketing materials, and trash. A colorful and personalized card all work in conjunction and screams ‘read me’ to patients. Once the missive has their attention, a clever cartoon or message that makes the recipient smile or laugh can easily turn into “refrigerator art” that provides a constant reminder of the practice.

A properly personalized and delivered postcard that makes patients smile combines a variety of marketing physical therapy methods together in a single source for maximum impact. Chhoda’s updated tips for reaching clients on an emotional level works equally well for all types of practices, including dental, chiropractic and physical therapy businesses. Patients that associate their health care providers with humor are remembered with fondness, leading to more referrals and new clients.

Chhoda’s office can be reached by phone at 201-535-4475. For more information, visit the website at http://www.nitin360.com.

Chhoda speaks extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and Asia. He’s the creator of the Therapy Newsletter, along with Clinical Contact, a web-based service that boosts patient arrival rates.

Bryn Mawr Senior Named 2012 Presidential Scholar

Bryn Mawr Senior Named 2012 Presidential Scholar

Amna Hashmi, a graduating senior from The Bryn Mawr School

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) May 03, 2012

Amna Hashmi, a graduating senior at The Bryn Mawr School, has been named a 2012 Presidential Scholar. She is one of only 141 graduating high school seniors across the country—and one of only three from the state of Maryland—to receive this honor.

Hashmi, who will attend Harvard University in the fall, has attended Bryn Mawr since the third grade. In addition to her scholastic achievements, she is a student-athlete, playing on the Varsity Squash and Tennis teams, the latter of which she is the captain. She serves as Yearbook Editor, Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper The Quill, President of the Debate Club, Captain of the Academic Team, and sings with the selective Upper School choral group Dayseye. She was also recently named a National Merit Scholar, and will receive a ,500 scholarship for college.

“Amna is without question one of the finest students I have known in my 33 years of teaching,” said Headmistress Maureen E. Walsh. “In everything that she pursues, she brings a level of seriousness, enthusiasm and commitment. She is thoroughly deserving of this honor, and will make important contributions in the years to come.”

Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. From approximately 3.2 million graduating seniors, 3,000 candidates were selected for their exceptional performance on the College Board SAT or the ACT Assessment. Further consideration was based on student essays, self-assessments, descriptions of activities, school recommendations, and school transcripts.

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, announcing the Scholars on May 2, said, “Honoring Presidential Scholars is an important celebration of students showing the dedication, creativity and ambition to become future leaders. As national, state and local leaders work side by side with principals, teachers, and parents to make our schools better, we can learn from the students all around us whose hard work and accomplishments embody the kind of excellence we want every child to achieve.”

The Commission on Presidential Scholars, a group of 32 eminent citizens appointed by the President, made the final selection of the Scholars. Scholars were selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in the community and school activities. The Commission chose one young man and one young woman from each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. students living abroad; 15 students-at-large, as well as 20 students from the creative and performing arts.

In the future, Hashmi hopes to pursue a career in global health and health policy. She is the daughter of Drs. Tazeen and Shoaib Hashmi of Cockeysville, Maryland.

Spring cleaning should include medical websites — UroToday launches next-generation urology-oncology website model

Spring cleaning should include medical websites — UroToday launches next-generation urology-oncology website model

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

UroToday.com (http://www.urotoday.com) went live on May 1 with a next-generation website platform yielding faster and more advanced searches within their already extensive list of urologic diseases including prostate, bladder, and renal cancers. Since 2002, UroToday has been a leading resource for urologists and uro-oncologists worldwide.

“The expectation of a .com medical website should be higher, and that’s why we invested in a forward-looking web platform to take us into the next decade. It feels like spring cleaning, but it’s much more — we’re setting the bar higher for ourselves and hopefully for other websites that follow our lead,” says Gina Carithers, CEO and publisher of Digital Science Press, Inc. (parent company of UroToday.com). Carithers, a medical website entrepreneur, has been building bridges between researchers and their scientific abstracts and the urologic practitioner. “It’s all about critically understanding where the medical research is leading and how to apply that knowledge to improve care. “

UroToday’s global urologic-oncology readership represents more than 27,000 cancer and biotech researchers, physicians, residents, nurses, and health educators. When most websites hope to keep the attention of the reader for several seconds, site metrics on UroToday’s editorial pages report daily interaction by medical professionals spending an average of 5 minutes per visit and making at least 1 visit per week.

“This website model has been effective because it maintains a focus on urology education and stays current,” says, Chief Medical Editor, Alan J. Wein, MD, PhD (hon.). “The updated website design will make online reading more efficient while providing greater opportunities to learn and interact.”

Dr. Wein’s editorial vision includes supplementing the educational needs of urology residents who are increasingly accessing medical resources online. ”Nothing fully replaces being onsite at a urology or oncology scientific meeting and hearing the researchers’ presentations, but in today’s economy, attendance at those live presentations includes only a fraction of the urology universe.” UroToday will continue a long-standing tradition of reporting from leading worldwide urology and genitourinary oncology meetings. At the May 2012 American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting, UroToday expects more than 55,000 unique site visitors to read their “real time” session highlights.

The new website platform will also enhance the physician, peer-reviewed UroToday International Journal (UIJ) (http://www.urotodayinternationaljournal.com) with improved, dynamic search capability and streamlined navigation. Editor-in-Chief, Karl-Erik Andersson, MD, PhD elaborated, “UIJ continues to reach urologists from around the globe, and they interact and participate as reviewers, authors and readers.”

“The success of our web model has enabled us to publish “In Focus” microsites on disease prevention,” adds Carithers. “That’s a new direction for our company.” She cites the CAUTI Challenge (http://www.cautichallenge.com) website, which stands for catheter-associated urinary tract infections, as a good website case study in outcomes. This website was created in part to provide a single resource to access evidence-based medicine and perspectives on implementing CAUTI prevention strategies. The CAUTI Challenge website tools are meant to be readily shared to assist healthcare providers in achieving sustainable prevention goals.

Diane Newman, DNP FAAN BCB-PMD, Co-Director of the Penn Center for Continence and Pelvic Health (as well as Editor-in Chief of the CAUTI Challenge) is very pleased with initial feedback. “We have heard from many (online) readers who are actively engaged in implementing CAUTI prevention programs for their hospitals. They have raised opportunities to update the algorithm which is truly a dynamic process of care.“

“A ‘dynamic process of care’ is a great way to describe our website vision for the future,” agrees Carithers. “Ours is the 21st century reinvention of the urology library offering real time, convenient access to all aspects of the field of urology.”
